WCAN Coaches:
Katie Clark - Head Coach
Katie has been involved in the swimming community for the last 20

years and began as an age group swimmer herself at 8 years old. After swimming and then continuing to play water polo through high school and college, she returned to her hometown of San Diego, California. While teaching swim lessons and managing a swim lesson program, she also began coaching swimming and water polo at the high school and age
group level as well as coaching a
Masters Swim Team.
Following a brief reprieve from aquatics to focus on a career in marketing,
Katie moved to the Napa Valley in April, 2009 and is completing her
teaching
credential at the elementary and secondary levels. She began coaching
with Wine Country Aquatics in August, 2008 and is excited to continue the
development of each swimmer and overall growth of the team.
Jennifer Bunker
Jennifer Bunker is no stranger to the Wine Country Aquatics of Napa.
She
worked as an assistant coach for the team during the 2001 - 2003 seasons and again from 2006 - 2008. She once again joins the team as they head
into another exciting summer season.
Coach Jen began swimming competitively at the age of seven. She was a
member of the Napa Valley Swim Team for 10 years and the Sonoma Sea Dragons
for one. She was also a member of Vintage High School’s undefeated MEL
championship swim team from 1991-1995. She then
went on to be a
scholarship swimmer for Pepperdine University, an NCAA Division I school.
Jen has been an elementary school teacher with the Napa Valley Unified
School District for 8 years. She has been teaching and coaching
swimming at all levels for the past 17 years and is very excited to be back
on the WCAN pool deck!
Sarah Carmody
Sarah Carmody was born and raised in Napa. She began her competitive
career at the age of seven with Napa Valley Swim Team. She reached
“Top Ten” for Pacific swimming in 1992 and 1993. She competed at the
Jr. National level in 100 and 200 Fly at the age of 15. During her senior
year of high school, Sarah captained the Vintage High School girls’ team
to an undefeated season, culminating in winning the M.E.L. Championship.
She
placed 2nd at the CIF Sectionals in 100 Fly.
Sarah graduated from Napa Valley College with two Associates degrees.
She went on to graduate suma cum laude with a Bachelor of Science,
and later a Master’s of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology
from CSU
Sacramento.
During the day, Coach Sarah is a speech language pathologist for the
Napa
Valley Unified School District. In her spare time, she enjoys
gardening, crocheting, and cooking with friends and family. Sarah
began teaching swim lessons at the age of 13. She is excited to return
to WCAN as an assistant coach and swim lesson instructor.
Don Montoro
Don is a parent of two WCAN swimmers who just recently became USA Swim
Coaching certified. Don swam and played water polo in high school and
presently is an active runner, swimmer, and cyclist.
During the day, Don is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Coast Guard having
16 years of active duty and is stationed in Alameda, CA. Don has a Bachelor
of Science in Chemistry from UC Davis and a Masters in Marine Affairs from
the University of Rhode Island.
